Mercator Ocean International and its partners European Environment Agency, EUMETSAT & ECMWF are thrilled to invite you to visit the Copernicus Coastal Hub booth at the European Maritime Day 2024. The event will take place at the SIMAC Academy - Svendborg International Maritime Academy in Svendborg (Denmark) on 30-31 May 2024.
Context
The European Maritime Day (EMD) is a two-day annual event where the stakeholders of Europe’s maritime ecosystem gather to discuss, network, and plan joint action on maritime affairs and a sustainable blue economy. This year’s event will consist of thematic and pitching sessions, workshops, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
The EMD aims to attract professionals from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs and academia as well as EU citizens interested in the Sea.
The Coastal Hub for a sustainable blue economy
The Copernicus Coastal Thematic Hub is a single entry point for Copernicus marine, land, atmosphere, climate, and emergency Earth Observation data on coastal areas. The Hub was launched during the General Assembly of Copernicus Marine in June 2023, and is part of the larger family of Thematic Hubs, which includes the Arctic, Energy and Health hubs.
By centralising the products of the Copernicus services, the Coastal Hub offers to policymakers, scientists, and businesses simplified access to Copernicus data, actively contributing to the achievement of the climate adaptation objectives set in the EU Green Deal.
A Sustainable Blue Economy is a central element of such objectives; the Copernicus Coastal Hub provides free and open access to various information regarding the coastal areas together with examples of use cases supporting the Blue economy, including aquaculture farming, Marine Protected Areas, flood risk and hydropower energy assessment as well as a wide array of mapping products.
A look at the Coastal Hub Viewer
The Coastal Hub features a dedicated viewer that allows Copernicus users to navigate and visualize the data available from 5 Copernicus services (Climate, Atmosphere, Emergency, Land and Marine). Users can adapt different layers, depending on the datasets and timespans they are interested in and ultimately download the data.
Further guidance on how to make the best of the Viewer will be provided during the Maritime Day at the Coastal Hub booth.
Come visit our booth at the European Maritime Day 2024 in Svendborg, Denmark, on 30 and 31 May to learn more about the Coastal Hub and the products available.
